This is a very old and very attractive small snuff box, likely dating from the late 1800s or very early 1900s. It is made of a rich dark wood with brass fittings and is inlaid on top in brass with an elephant.It measures 2 1/4 x 1 1/2 x 2/3 inches. The hinge works smoothly and the grain of the wood is lovely, high polish outside, relatively rough cut inside.There is some spotting on the brass that could use a good clean and there is a very small chip in the wood surface on the front underside lid, but the box overall is in very good shape.
