Antique WWII Brass US Navy Ships Bell Achilles,Military Great History behind the War Ship Achilles This is a fantastic Ships brass or bronze bell from the US Navy ship Achilles. The bell is inscribed with the ships name "Achilles". The bell measures 11 inches in height, and 16 inches in bottom diameter. It comes with the original holder and original clapper inside the bell. IT is in working order and sounds good. It is hard to make out the makers name on the holder but it appears to be made from Seneca Falls, Ny. The US Navy ship Achilles saw a lot of action in WWII. T is a great web site with all the info on the Navy ship at : http://www.history.navy.mil/danfs/a2/achilles.htm . It is very rare for one of these bells to come up for auction and in such good condition. My grandfather served in the Navy during WWII on a battleship and it brought up a lot of memories for him. We are selling it with no reserve. Winning bidder is to include $75 for shipping and insurance in the continental United States, please email for rates outside this area.
