Wonderful Anton Reiche chocolate mould in a rare sailboats pattern of 24 (4x6) mold sections. This is the first one in this pattern that we have seen. Measures 10" x 13 3/8" x 5/8" thick. In good condition, and ready for the discriminating collector or chef/chocolatier who wants to impress. Note the Anton Reiche/Dresden marks and style number mark 3239 (possibly 32399 or 32390) in the metal, along with the number 38. (Represents a particular Anton Reiche factory, not the year of production.) Circa 1920's-1930's. In 1870, Friedrich Anton Reiche founded a production facility for tin coatings in Dresden and established a factory for tin boxes and chocolate moulds in 1888. Between both world wars, Anton Reiche Dresden used to have 2000 employees. Anton Reiche manufactured numerous beautiful moulds. In particular they developed the Platinol moulds, nickel-coated sheet metal moulds. It was the variety and diversity of their products which made them become the most demanded ones ever after. In year 1932 there were as many as 50.000 different moulds. Reiche molds were exported to the United States from 1885 to 1939, excluding the WWI era. This mold is believed to date to the 1920's or earlier, and is guaranteed to predate September 1939, when the invasion of Poland caused exportation to cease. Located in Dresden, the Reiche factory was almost read more
