Item for sale: Antique chocolate bar mold made by Anton Reiche in Dresden Germany on the request of the Suchard chocolate company, Switzerland, for its factory in Germany. No Rust. Still usable. Made in the year 1879-1940 (estimate). Philippe Suchard (1797 - 1884) was a major chocolate manufacturer. In 1880 Suchard was the first Swiss chocolate maker to set up a factory abroad, in Lörrach in Germany, just over the border from Basel. By the early 1880s the Suchard company was producing about half the total national output of chocolate, and employing about half the total of people working in the industry. Anton Reiche was the producer of the world's most artistic, detailed and high quality chocolate moulds. This genuine antique was collected in Germany during research and photography for past or future editions of the World Chocolate Awards guide book (available on amazon) which we are the publisher of.
