This Medallion was designed by Lumen Martin Winter for the Apollo XIII Space Mission. This is a Pierced Paper Template for marking a wall after which the design is used to paint or otherwise finish it on the wall. This was found folded in a book. There is a piece of one of the words missing. It is quite fragile due to being pierced along every line. I show the front and the back in the pictures. I will include a digital printed copy of a photo of the medallion with the artist and the mission astronauts with this auction. This is not a photograph but is digitally copied and printed on my printer.I do combine shipping.This is being sold by the Artist's family out of Catherine Winter's Collection (Lumen Winter's Daughter)Lumen Martin Winter died in 1982. All of his artwork transferred to his wife Grace R. Winter at that time. Grace R. Winter died in the late 1990's. The estate was divided and most of the artwork that was remaining in Lumen Martin Winter's studio located in their home in New Rochelle, NY transferred to his daughter, Catherine A. Winter. Catherine A. Winter was married to Thomas V. Nowak at the time of her mother's death. Catherine A. Winter died in 2006. All of the artwork in Catherine's estate transferred to Thomas V. Nowak. I, Kimberly H. Nowak, married Thomas V. Nowak in 2010.LUMEN MARTIN WINTER (1908-1982)Lumen Martin Winter, America's most renowned muralist, spent his childhood in western Kansas. Listed in "Who's Who in America." and "Who's Who in American Art," the celebrated artist still remembers noticing the ruts from the wagons in the ground of the Santa Fe Trail. After attending the Cleveland School of Art, the National Academy of Design in New York City, serving as an artist with the U.S. Signal Corps in the Air Force in WW II, working as a cartoonist and designer, Lumen Winter went to Santa Fe to settle in 1939. The next 39 years were to catapult Lumen Winter into the forefront as America's most renowned muralist and artist. His work, described by a Paris art critic in The Paris Moderne, "is not abstract nor is it realistic, but he has created synthesis which is all his own." "I have followed every movement since I was thirteen years old," states Mr. Winter, "but I have found all these movements to stem from the classic ages, even going back to the Ancients. I like the Renaissance because of its vitality and force which is similar to the expression of the 20 th century. Science has crept into our art to the point where it is difficult to say what is art and what is science."
