Gut strings offer superior tone to modern synthetic strings but have many shortcomings Nylgut by Aquila is a new synthetic material that imitates the superior acoustical characteristics of gut but without the typical defects such as high cost, short string life, poor intonation and severe instability to changes of climate. Nylgut has a specific density and tonal quality nearly identical to that of gut, and is the first truly successful synthetic version of the natural product. Aquila Nylgut uke strings offer improved resistance to wear under tension-greater than that of gut, and extraordinary immunity to changes of climate, considerably better than that of Nylon, ensuring consistent stability of tuning.
