Anemone Dish Ware Arabia of Finland, Ulla Procope, Designer Vintage, Highly Collectible Handpainted Sugar Bowl with Lid 4 inch Diameter at Rim, 2 inches Tall Condition: Like New Up for auction this Sunday is a set of Arabia's most famous dish ware pattern, Anemone. Ulla Procope, the award winning Arabia designer working in the 1960's, used a bright cobalt blue against a gray-blue white ground for these oven-proof, dishwasher safe earthenware dishes. The cups and serving pieces feature handpainted blue anemone flowers; each handpainted piece is signed and unique. Procope's designs struck a chord in the modernist movement; her Anemone line was a best seller for Arabia until it was discontinued. Every piece is heavy. A single dinner plate weighs almost two pounds! No wonder these dishes lasted, and lasted, and lasted, as they were passed from mother to daughter and prized by each generation. The Sugar Bowl measure 4 inches in diameter, and is about 2 inches tall. A charming design feature is the lid handle; it is designed so you lift the lid with ease and grace and with a good grip, unlike some that slip out of your fingers. T's a matching creamer in the auction as well. Condition: Never used - no chips, pinholes, stains, cracks, crazing or repairs, excellent luster.
