Bound in a splendid publisher’s binding of full brown calf, with both boards ruled in blind, surrounding a central Celtic cross. The spine (no label) features five raised bands, with the compartments decorated in blind. Head and toe of spine rubbed; joints worn but holding tight. Boards moderately scuffed. A clean copy internally, with only light occasional foxing. A good copy of an interesting and lovely book. An extensive early work on Scottish antiquity (or, as Wilson describes it, ‘Primeval Archaelogy’). The book, illustrated with over 200 textual illustrations as well as the six unpaginated plates, covers from the Stone to the Christian Periods.
