The patriarch, Archie Manning, made his mark as the quarterback at Ole Miss. He was the second pick in the 1971 NFL draft, going to the New Orleans Saints. He spent 13 years in the NFL with the Saints, Oilers, and Vikings, earning respect for his ability and character despite a lack of overall team success. Beloved in New Orleans long after his career in the NFL, he has been involved with Saints radio and TV broadcasts and works as a college football analyst. Peyton Manning starred at the University of Tennessee, lead the Volunteers to the 1997 SEC championship and an appearance in the National Championship game. He was the first pick in the 1998 NFL draft and became the Indianapolis Colts all-time leader in passing yards and touchdowns.
