Hi Guys, It seems some of you are starting to like the Cottonwood Root, so I am going to try to get some quality pieces of Cottonwood Root for Carving Kachina Dolls Traditionally. This is a soft, easy to carve, almost corky, but not so spungy, kind of wood. It is very nice to work with and can make carvings worth a great deal of money. Or, just for your own pleasure of carving this great medium of wood. This is from Arizona, an nice dry climate and I have kept these piece in good storage, for optimal condition. There are no cracks in the inner wood or bug holes I can see, this is however a wide at one end and splits into two pieces on the other end. And, there is a small surface blemish in pic #7 you can see it on the top of the root, it is not deep or hindering to a project. This is a nice solid piece though and should make nice carving material. This piece is 10" long, 8.25 - 9" wide, 4 - 5" thick and 22 - 23" around the whole piece. The larger side of the piece is about 16" around and the skinnier side is about 13 - 14" around. This is a really nice high quality piece of Cottonwood Root, very clean. You can make a great Kachina or other project of your own imagination, from this piece root. If you carve read more
