Offered is a complete b/w issue of Arizona Highways Magazine from June 1942. Thunder in the Skies" Soldiers at Luke, Williams, Thunderbird and Falcon Fields in the Phoenix area of Arizona. The Phoenix Aza era was a hot bed for pilot training during WWII. There were four training fields in the area. Luke, Williams, Thunderbird and Falcon Fields. All but Thunderbird remain as air fields of some sort. American, British and even Chinese pilots trained at these fields. Lots of b/w photographs of planes, crews, field buildings and more. Also part 2 of John Vukcevich illustrated by Ross Santee. (How a man from Montenegro came to Arizona and helped to dig mines.) Clean copy. This does have a musty smell, but it is not overpowering. Light edge wear.
