UK sale only US M1 HELMET LINER, WW2 - KOREA This US liner is in very good condition and the webbing is strong and useable. I have no idea what year this was made as there is no manufacturer mark inside that I can see? apart from a tiny letter ‘5’ but I would think it is at least Korean War or maybe late WW2 issue for the following reasons:The nape strap poppers are blackened brass The rank eyelet at the front is brassThe ‘A’ clips are blackened brassThe ‘A’ clip rivets around the outside of the liner are brass There are brass fittings for the brown leather strap hooks The metalwork has virtually no rust or green verdigri on it.The adjusting lace seems never to have been moved since it was new.The shell interior has a very nice 6 pointed star appearance from the manufacturing process - American collectors seem to rate this?The standard M1 colour to the outside has not be repainted or ‘messed’ with but it does have some paint scuffing from much use when fitting and removing from the steel shell.The whole liner is very sound without cracks or stress. There are 2 tiny spots of white paint and a small area of faded blood? to the front webbing straps - Hey! It was a combat helmet you know?
