Small rocky coastal landscape gem done with pallette knife by Arnold Warburton Lahee (1888 - 1976), oil on board 6" by 8", unsigned, framed in newer stained wood frame with gilt inner edge, 9 1/4" by 11 1/4" outside dimensions, ready to hang. Condition very good to excellent with no siginificant defects noted. Lahee was a retired professor of economics when he began painting at age 50. Lahee worked primarily in Massachusetts and Vermont; studied with Frank Dumond, Alphonse Shelton, and Wayman Adams; and was a member of and exhibited with the American Artists Professional League. He is known for often working with palette knife and this is another fine example. Identified as Petit Naman in artist's pencil notation on reverse.
