An amazing and mega rare bakelite handbag, so rare the only place you are likely to see one is in a reference book. This is a treasured item from my bakelite collection which I am downsizing Charming playful elephants to the top of frame, all hand carved in butterscotch phenolic bakelite. The main part of bag is a dark blue black wool felt fabric. The interior has an integral bakelite framed coin purse Dating c1935s Bakelite has a lovely chunky feel and the clasp of the bag works well Tests positive for phenolic bakelite and is guaranteed to be original vintage approx 8.5 inches x 7.5 inches Condition of the bakelite is good, elephants are undamaged, there is minimal wear on frame top edge with a very minor flake repair to bakelite to one corner but not significant enough to detract.
