Revere Scroll Bookend Art Deco Wood, Chrome and Copper This is an unusual art deco bookend made by Revere Copper and Brass Corporation. The basic steel scroll design was patented by Fred Farr, for Revere Copper and Brass in 1935. The scroll concept was used in a number of bookend designs, most of them having just a single coil of steel. This bookend will hold books on both sides of the center disk. The center disk is about 5" high and 1-1/4" wide; the sides are ivory white painted wood; the middle has a lacquered copper band. A large, steel coil up to 4-1/4" wide is fastened to the bottom of each side of the center disk. These scrolls hold your books snugly but gently up against the center upright. (Books are not included, they are for illustration purposes only.) Originally, this bookend had a green felt pad on the underside of the base; it is no longer t, but one could be added. The center upright is very slightly wobbly due to the play allowed the fasteners because the felt pad is no longer taking up the slack. Replacing the pad or tightening the fasteners would cure that. T is some paint loss on the wood, and scuffing w the scrolls have rubbed against the wood upright. T are also worn spots in the clear lacquer coating of the copper center band. Light scuffing & scratches to the metal. Clean, ready to go. Looking for more? read more
