This clock has been in our family since it was new ... approximately 1959. •• It is a Luxor model 722. •• Luxor was a Swiss clock maker known for their high-quality time pieces, including mantle clocks (like this one), travel clocks, wall clocks and more. •• If you're looking for a very cool, superior quality piece of modern history that works ... this clock is it. They'll never make a clock like this again. It weighs about 13 pounds! •• The #722 came in two standard lacquered finishes ... red and black. •• This clock is red. •• The clock face is gold plated. Look closely, there are dragons in the scroll work. •• The other brightwork on the clock is brass; both polished and brushed. •• The clock works and winds easily and without binding. It seems to hold the time quite well. Company literature states that it is an 8-Day Works, meaning you wind it once and it runs for 8 days. •• The chock chimes on the hour (the number of hours) and half hour (once). Curiously, it is chiming the time minus one at the time being ... for example, at 3 o'clock, it rings twice. •• Cosmetically, the clock has some very small chips in the red lacquered top and bottom. I could have fixed these cosmetically with wax or markers, but elected to show the clock exactly AS-IS. The clock face is perfect. The front beveled glass is perfect. The rear brass-work read more
