Heavy three piece coffee service for one or two, made by Lawrence B. Smith (L.B.S.Co) of Boston, MA, around 1930. This company was in business from 1887 to 1958. All three pieces are very heavy for their size. Copper pleasantly shows through the silver at the edges and wear points of the pieces, making this American "bleeding Sheffield". Each piece is marked with L.B.S.Co. mark, Sheffield, a cross, crown, and bell, and the pattern number 1088.The coffee pot has a very finely grained dark wood handle, possibly ebony. The coffeepot measures 8 ½ inches tall by about 6 inches wide from spout tip to handle point. Its base measures 3 1/8 inches by 2 1/8 inches. It holds 20 fluid ounces (2 ½ measuring cups). It is very well balanced, water tight and the spout does not drip. The creamer measures 3 ¼ inches from spout to handle tip, and is 3 inches tall. It holds 4 fluid ounces and is also water tight and its spout does not drip. T is a manufacturing flaw on the bottom of the creamer, which does not affect its appearance or use. The sugar, which has no lid, is 4 3/8 inches from handle tip to handle tip, and is 2 ¾ inches tall. This set is used. The coffee pot has a small ding on the edge of the front of one side, and numerous very tiny ones along the spout. These generally blend in with the overall patina of use that develops over time.
