This Wonderful Western Electric B1 102 Desk Telephone is fully reconditioned and guaranteed to work. If you want a REALLY NICE WESTERN ELECTRIC DESK TELEPHONE THIS IS IT! It was made in the 1920s for the Bell System and upgraded by them to anti-sidetone thereafter. It was totally taken apart, cleaned, polished, refinished, reassembled, and thoroughly tested. Please see the pictures for it's beautiful condition. This is the anti-sidetone version that provides great transmission quality. You will be pleasantly surprised at how good this telephone sounds! The phone's housing is marked WESTERN ELECTRIC, MADE IN USA, PAT IN USA, SEPT 16, 24, PATS APP FOR. The handset is an E1, is made of bakelite, and is marked TRADE MARK, WESTERN ELECTRIC, REG US PAT OFF, E1, MADE IN USA on the handle. The transmitter has the 1930s type capsule for excellent sound quality that was upgraded when it was upgraded to anti-sidetone. This phone is not a reproduction, it's the real thing. The nice brown cloth cords, the quality brown cloth bottom covering, and the number card on the dial are new. The phone's base has a nice black baked on semi-gloss finish like the original.The finish is PROFESSIONALLY APPLIED and will hold up during many years of use. These phones did not originally have a shiny finish that will show up finger prints and wear or chip easily. The dial is an original WE 2HA that makes a loud The dial says WESTERN ELECTRIC, PAT IN USA, AUG 13 12, AUG 24 15, DES MAY 7 18, SEPT 13 21, MADE IN USA on the front and the dial face is an original porcelain one. The base cover is an original with a new quality felt cover. The insides are all there, correct, and original. The anti-sidetone 634A subset (black box) contains the ringer, coil, and capacitors. The cover has the same nice black baked on semi-gloss finish as the telephone and is in beautiful condition. The subset can be mounted on the wall, or placed under the desk, table, or anything else that the phone sits on. The subset is correct for this telephone and necessary for the proper operation of the telephone. Wooden extension ringer boxes are not correct and take away from the antique value of the phone. As mentioned before, this phone is fully functionable and ready to use. Just plug it into any standard modular jack that provides standard telephone service. To make a call just pick up the handset and dial the number you want to reach. To answer a call, pick up the handset and talk after hearing the old bells ring. This is a great old telephone! Telephones like this, reconditioned and functional, have sold for well over $800 on eBay. My reserve is less than half of that.
