Hi - Thanks for looking at my No Reserve A uction!!! Up for bid is a rare original vintage Art Deco era (1920 - 1930) miniature Zenith travel carriage clock in original fitted French leather case. This beautiful little gold dore clock was Swiss made & manufactured by Zenith. Features beautifully lined or grooved top, sides & front. Face is gold enamel metal. Hands & numerals are gold enamel. Four gold gilt bun feet. This is a very fine quality antique clock! Back is marked Zenith Watch Co. & Swiss Made. Side edge of back is marked Depose. Base is marked Metal Dore. Front face of clock is marked Zenith & Suisse Made (at bottom of face). This clock could very well be gold, though it is not marked as such anyw It appears to be very fine quality & has the proper lustre & color for gold Comes w/ original red leather fitted case which is lined in padded cream silk. Inside back is marked in gold gilt: La Belle Montre. G Nicole. Successeur. Rue de Bourg. 11. Lausanne. (obviously a shop in France!)Has a beautiful brass or bronze metal clasp that is fully functional & complete. Overall condition is Excellent to Near Mint. Some rubbed or dulled type of wear spots on the gold finish in different places over all the clock sides. I think most of this is just light soiling & would clean up w/ the proper cleaning solution or perhaps a polish. I didn't touch the clock, thinking some might prefer its overall uniform lustrous patina. Gold metal face & handpainted enamel numerals & hands are all essentially Near Mint, as is entire front of clock. Bevelled glass crystal face appears to be w/o flaw. Clock seems to be working fine, but I do not guarantee or make any representations about its inner workings as I am not a clock expert & I only had the opportunity to run it for a short time. Alarm seems to work fine also. Case is in very good sturdy condition overall. The clasp has darkened patina w/ age, but otherwise mint. The inside of the case has some yellowing in spots & a couple of stains. The inside base is badly stained. The outside red leather is largely rubbed off. I think the leather could be restored as well. It is supple. No rips, tears, holes, or other significant problems inside or out. The clock fits tightly inside the case & is obviously original to the box. I took pics w/ a flash & w/o & against different backgrounds so you can see detailing, condition & lustre. A genuine Art Deco showstopper! Measures about 2 1/4" tall & 2" wide & 1 3/8" deep. A rare & beautiful find! This would make a wonderful gift for the holidays!
