The elegant and original Art Nouveau period necklace would, in its day, only be seen at formal occasions and most likely accented by tiny gold or brass ball earrings. But that was over 100 years ago. Today, the necklace would be perfectly acceptable in everyday wear from blue jeans to office attire. The versatility of the necklace makes this necklace a finder friendly item! Simple in form, it consists of two separate lengths of 16" each ~ the collared shaped one of individual segments of brass and silver pressed filigree and the inner brass ball chain segment. Both segments attach at back edges to their tubular brass barrel and fly push in clasp. The edges of the loopsattach at clasp and soldered ones of brass ball segments are hallmarked in fading insigna of the old Austrian Hungarian Empire ... the Imperial Austrian Eagle and a series of small letters. Base material of main necklace is brass and copper with zinc or pewter. It has a silver overlay which is fading and each of its arched and curved linked segments connects to adjoing one with tiny brass loops. The relief work atop each segment is most unique with intricate brass ball insets and the acanthus motif. Width of each segment is 1/2".
