Art Nouveau Complete RARITY :Bronze maquette by H.Dubois,1890: the Red Cross (starting price: USD $199.99 NO RESERVE) Obv/ UNION DES FEMMES DE FRANCE ( -please, note there is a very small hole under the &quotE" of &quotD ES"- Union of Ladies from France). Two Ladies are taking care of an injured man, helping him as he tries to eat . In the background, another Lady, with her Baby on her knee, is reading a book to a Person, lying on a bed. In the exergue : CROIX ROUGE FRANCAISE. ( signed Henri Dubois down left and dated MDCCCLXXXX downright Rev/ Plain (Plain lost wax cast bronze plaque some left wax can still be seen..) Information and bibliography: This large ( 4 inches ) cast bronze plaque is a maquette which was engraved by Henri Dubois (1859-1943). He was the son of the medallist Alphée Dubois. He was pupil to his father, to Chapu and to Falguière. In 1878 Dubois competed for the Prix de Rome for which he received a second prize award. He exhibited at the Salon de Paris from 1880 to 1901, received a third-class medal in 1888, a travel grant the same year, a second-class medal in 1893 and a first-class medal in 1898. Dubois was awarded a silver medal at the Exposition Universelle in 1900 and was made a Chevalier of the Legion of Honor in 1903. His works are in the collection of the Musée Luxembourg in Paris.
