Part of a collection believed commissioned by the Steinway Piano Co, NYC. Acclaimed classical pianist Arthur Rubinstein has signed this 5 X 7.5 original pencil portrait in black artist's pencil. The sketch is also signed by artist Stuyvesant Van Veen, who has added the date "1948." Beautifully framed in original ornate frame 22 X 25.Artist Stuyvesant Van Veen is a famous artist and muralist, having been the youngest contributor to an International exhibition of modern paintings at the Carnegie Institute in Pittsburgh at the age of 19 (1929). As result he was commissioned by the U.S. Treasury Department’s Section of painting and Sculpture to paint “Pittsburgh Panorama,” which hangs in the US Courthouse and Post Office in downtown Pittsburgh. His many other murals (many for the Federal Art Project) hang throughout America.
