Up for auction is a lovely Bernard Instone silver and enamel floral Arts and Crafts/Art Deco brooch dating from around 1930. The brooch, which measures nearly 3.5 Cm across is marked silver (see photos). The brooch is an iconic Bernard Instone design in silver and enamel of good strong colour which shows no signs of abrasion. This brooch is an extremely early version of Bernard Instones work from the Langstone era which utilises a silver ring upon which the enamelled silver is mounted. This method of manufacture was soon replaced by the usual cast floral leaf design without the silver ring mount. These early versions are very rare. The enamel is in extremely good (near mint) condition and I have included high definition photos of the brooch to allow close scrutiny of the enamel condition which is of paramount importance with Instone pieces. All in all a lovely statement Bernard Instone Arts and Crafts/Art Deco piece. Please note that we have a matching bracelet listed from very nearly the same period.
