ARTS CRAFTS Van Briggle MOUNTAIN CRAIG BROWN Squat Vase VAN BRIGGLE ARTS & CRAFTS VASE The Van Briggle Company of Colorado Springs, Colorado began pottery production in 1901, producing many of the world's finest glazes. The Mountain Craig Brown glaze is one of the most desirable of their glazes, as its formula was lost in the flood of 1935 and has never again been duplicated. The remaining pieces are scarce and extremely collectible. I was fortunate enough to find two pieces at a local estate sale, and I am offering them today in two separate auctions. Offered is a squat vase in the Arts & Crafts style measuring 4" tall and 4-1/2" across at the widest point. The opening is 3" in diameter. Pictures do not do the vase justice at all. The vase is a shade of brown that really cannot be described with a soft green overspray atop the raised pattern at the rim. The mold is sharp with lots of detail, and the vase is free from chips, cracks or repairs. Fully marked on the bottom with the AA logo, Van Briggle, and U.S.A., dating it to the 1920s. Please look at my other auctions for another vase is this lovely color. I am starting the auctions at $9.99, but if t is little early interest I reserve the right to cancel the auction and wait for a more opportune time to re-list.
