A highly original arts and crafts wicker chair in the style of Gustav Stickley or Heywood Wakefield. The seat cushion is missing; the fabric and tacks (none are missing) on the seat back appear to be original. There are some breaks to the wicker, mostly on the arms. The fabric is faded and has a small tear on its top edge. There are areas of color loss due to rubbing wear. A partial paper label on the seat bottom appears to be dated 1916. I cannot make out the manufacturer's name, but the font and style of the label may provide a clue to someone knowledgeable in manufacturers of this period. The chair was made in Michigan. The chair seat springs are in good condition and all twine is present and unbroken. The chair is structurally solid, sits level and has only a slight looseness, likely present since new. Very handsome and hard to find period wicker in the arts and crafts style. No shipping on this item - pick it up in West Seattle.
