This is the first version of the metal mechanical rocket bank. It was made by ASTRO Mfg. (not the newer Vacumet company) in the 1950's to early 1960's as a bank premium give-away for the Community Bank. With bank branch locations in Hunting Park , Burbank , Los Angles and Downey. It is gold toned in color. Stands about 13 inches tall. To operate, just pull the trigger (plane) to the lock position, place a coin onto it, push the red button and watch the coin shoot into the nose section of the bank. I have been collecting these types of banks for years. It is time for me to thin out my collection.....so happy bidding! The paint , bank label and finish are 99% intact. Surface finish is 100% original....has not been restored or touched-up. No cracks or breaks of any kind. The spring/firing mechanism works fine. The trap is present and a key is included. The red robber nose cone tip and the four rubber fin tip covers are ORIGINAL! Bank condition is EXCELLENT....only a few rubs or scratches. This is as close to mint as you can get!!!
