Astronaut autograph Irene H. Leverton Woman pilot to be tested for suitability as an astronaut so-called "Mercury 13" signed color glossy The woman: Irene H. Leverton and 12 other female pilots underwent medical tests at the Lovelace clinic in the early 60s. Lovelace wanted to find out whether women were equally fit to become astronauts and fly to space. However, gender bias prevented that any of the women ever entered the space program. James Leverton from Ioawa, AMCL, Father Bless all of you JL". All autographs I sell are authentic unless otherwise mentioned. I am a member of UACC, the Space Unit, ASSS, Weltraum Philatelie, AdA, BFV Cosmos, RFC Nederland, AAF, etc.
