Athearn Blue Box Freight Car Kit 40' Steel Side Refrigerator Reefer Car RAILWAY EXPRESS AGENCY REA 6101 Out of Production Assembled Kit OP-3 Rating - with First Run Car Number introduced 11/62 ITEM DESCRIPTION: Athearn HO Assembled Kit No. 1609 40' Steel Side Reefer Car Kit factory painted and lettered for Railway Express Agency with road number REA 6101 in near perfect condition. These Athearn Blue Box car kits are no longer produced. The assembled kit appears to be complete. The paint is smooth with crisp clean lettering. The car also has some tiny lettering with car information on it. The Standard Guide to Athearn Model Trains book has this car listed as an OP-3 due to its rarity. This number was first introduced in 11/62. There is no box for this car. RARITY SCALE / VALUE GUIDE (effective 1998): OP-1: Recently Discontinued. Value: Current Retail (CR) to CR + 10%. OP-2: Limited Availability. Value: CR + 10% to CR + 50%. OP-3: Rare, not likely to be found. Value CR + 50% to CR + 100%. OP-4: Very Rare, extremely scarce. Value: Minimum CR + 100%.
