This is a ready to run model of an powered HO scale EMD GP-9 freight locomotive, lettered for the Chicago Burlington and Quincy Railroad, in the black grey and red "Burlington Route" freight paint scheme, the other side bears the slogan "Everyw West". This Burlington Route paint scheme was the first Athearn GP-9 paint scheme produced on the CB&Q diesels, and was superceded by the red and grey scheme, and this one was discontinued. This is a model of the HI-F drive, or rubber band drive used on the very early Athearn diesels. Motor runs well, but the rubber bands have dried out, and need to be replaced. A picture of this locomotive is featured on page 124 of my book, The Standard Guide to Athearn Model Trains. This model was made by Athearn Inc. of Los Angeles, CA. The Standard Guide to Athearn Model Trains lists this engine as first released as item number 155/1155 in September of 1957. Engine has no road number. Engine has the unpainted metal frame with metal sideframe trucks. Engine is in very good condition with no broken pieces, and is missing only the handrails, but any Athearn GP-9 set will work. These engines are rare, as this is a limited run out of production item. Engine is not in the original box , but will be boxed well to ship. Don't miss a chance to get this classic rare freight loco at a great price. High bidder pays read more
