ATHEARN #1300 VINTAGE HO SCALE HEAVY DUTY FLAT CAR WITH DOUBLE LOAD UNIQUE CAR WITH 4 TRUCKS - 16 METAL WHEELS Meticulously Built - Heavily Weighted WESTINGHOUSE WECX #100 NEVER RUN This is one of many HO cars built from kits by my late husband. He was a highly skilled modeler and avid collector for over 60 years and won many local and divisional NMRA awards for his cars. It is listed as new as it was built and stored in a custom padded box and has never been run. It has been in climate controlled, smoke free storage. This is a very unique car with a double load of some type of electrical equipment. The car measures 6 1/2 inches and weighs 7.3 ounces. "In order to transport ultra-heavy loads cross country the railroad industry has developed a number of specialized heavy-duty flat cars. One of the most common examples of this unique category of railcar is the four truck cast steel frame flat car. The four trucks spread out over the rails to minimize track damage. Due to their robust construction these cars have had a long tenure on the rails with many operating over fifty years before being rebuilt and continuing in service."
