It's a great starting price, compared to hobby store shelves (yet sadly fewer and fewer of those exist today than in years past).READ THIS! Still, who does that?More about the item: Architecturally, Kate's Colonial Home is a two-story colonial, pre-colored in shades of creamy-yellow and moss green (see pictures for your own color thoughts).No single building era, decade, or other time frame jumps out to me. So take a close look at the item pictures and judge that for yourself. If anything, I find the model building to be rather "timeless." It could represent a very old house that has been refurbished (or one in the process). I can also see it as used as a brand-new home (model) custom built to achieve a desired historic look.To me, once you put the kit together, the home would serve fantastically as a stand-alone centerpiece on a large, detailed estate, function equally well as a working farm house, surrounded by animals, gardens, outbuildings, tractors, and farm details. I look at "Kate" and see her blending nicely in any neighborhood on your layout, fitting in perfectly among other homes with a variety of styles. The versatility of this particular model stands out to me more than many buildings that more likely belong serving a single function on a layout. Hopefully Kate will tempt your imaginationItem is new in box. It is not in shrink wrap. I'm not sure it ever was but all parts are present. HO Scale.
