You are bidding on one super Auburn Tool Company complex bilection wood molding or moulding plane as pictured.It is marked "AUBURN TOOL CO AUBURN NY" in their usual logo and owner "H J CASE" on the front end, and "1/2" and CASE again on the back end. Overall length is about 9-9/16", and the body is about 1-3/8" in width.Auburn Tool Company was an interesting and prolific plane maker. Please see American Wooden Planes 4th Edition for much more information about them.Condition is excellent, very clean and very crisp. It appears to have seen very little use. The boxing slot has spread apart slightly, but the boxing seems to be held tightly. There are a few scratches and some tiny chips along the lower right hand edge. The boxing is just about perfect. A nice plane!SHIPPING MOULDING PLANES: The typical moulding plane will weigh a bit over one pound when boxed, and ships at the two pound rate. Within the US, that costs $11.20. But I can get 6 to 8 typical width moulding planes into one medium Priority Flat Rate box, and that costs $11.95 within the US. So the second plane ships for less than a dollar, and the next few after that ship for free. SHIPPING: 2 pounds when boxed. I tend to rotate back and forth between groups of metal planes and parts for them, and then groups of American and British molding planes, and then back to metallic planes again. But every so often I sneak in something else, such as chisels and gouges, bevels and squares and gauges, books about tools and reprint catalogs, and a variety of other tools. So I might not have any chisels for a month, and then have 30 or 40 chisels all listed at the same time. So please keep watching my auctions! If I think the wedge on a molding plane is not original, I will tell you. If I think a japanned plane has been repainted, I will tell you. What goes around, comes around.
