In Stockholm he played with band leaders as Miff Gorling , Lulle Eulle , Arthur Osterville , Arne Helpers , Simon Brehm and Thore Ehrling , From 1951 he has been his own band leader for numerous orchestras . The alto saxophone is Arne’s main instrument ---an incredible solist ---but also as a clarinettist he is listed among the very best . A strong , warm tone , brilliant technique , and richness in improvising ideas is the hallmark of his music . Arne Domnerus has for great many years been listed among the elite saxophone players in Europe but his way of expression sometimes reminds you of Johnny Hodges , and at other occasions of Charlie Parker or Lee Konitz .
