Austrian Majolica Wilhelm Schiller and Sons Vase/Urn 1885-1890 circa I am very pleased to offer this beautiful Vase/Urn made by the renowned Wilhelm Schiller & Sons in Bodenbach (Bohemia), Austria. It dates to around 1885-90. This unique mix of the traditional Victorian and Art Nouveau styles into this fluid effect was typical of their workshop and shows a lovely marriage of the two predominant influences at the time. The body of the Vase is a cream and gold with blue pattern with hand painted gold accents with the base, handles, and top border glazed in shades of gray, cream, and gold scrollwork subtly accented with a beutiful saphire blue hand painted beads. The interior is glazed in aqua blue. T is some discoloring in the 4 smaller vase holders on the base. It measures approximately 15 1⁄4âe long, 10 1/2 wide top vase with handles, and the bottom vase 11âe wide total. Each of the bottom vases (4 total) are aprox. 1 cup in size. It bears Schillerâe(tm)s raised WS&S cartouche on the base as well as the impressed number 1407 and the word âeoemade Austrâe in brown glaze. The vase does come apart in two pieces and is together with a metal rod up the middle. I have added a picture of it dismantled. It is in superb condition with no chips or cracks. T are some small hairlines, You really need to look for them. T is no repair
