You are bidding on an authentic 1930's Tom's Peanut Jar The picture is a scan of the bottom of an authentic Tom's Peanut Jar .What is written on the bottom is " PROPERTY OF TOM HUSTON PEANUT Co. COLUMBUS Ga ." (If it doesn't have this on the bottom it is a later remake.) If you are wanting to buy one you should go ahead and get the real thing!The real one doesn't come with a glass or a chrome lid.This one has the authentic aluminum lid that has a silver finish with Tom's painted on two sides, and the handle is also red and made of aluminum. The lid is the hardest thing to find in good shape! The bottom of the jar is clear. We just put a white paper in it so it would scan better. The dark scan was without the paper. T are no nicks or breaks in the jar. This display jar is 7 1/2" wide and 7 1/2" tall without the lid on it. With the lid it is about 9 1/2" tall. I have two of these jars that are the same, but the other one has a small crack on the underside of the top rim of the jar. It is still solid and it looks like what a small crack in your windshield of your car would be like. It is about a 1/2" to 3/4" long. You can't feel it and wouldn't see it if you were not looking for it. I am going to give the highest bidder first chance at this second jar with the small crack.
