This is an AUTHENTIC Original Antique EIFFEL TOWER rivet from the year it was built .... 1889 it is inside of a large lucite globe upon hunting google for hours .... we found out that in the year 1996 ... 1000 of the rivets that were removed during renovation.... were made into these globe forms paperweights .... and sold at the Eiffel Tower itself ..... during a tour find the right website and it will even give you the price these were when purchased (I couldn't convert the correct dollar amount for back then .....& the dollar ain't worth a squat now !)I can tell you ....OUR price now is less than their price then ! apparently they went like hotcakes and then ..that was it ....no more (YOU will have to do more research on this if you want ..... t is so much stuff on the Eiffel Tower .... you may be at the computer for a week hunting down the "specs" it IS SIGNED ..... t is a rectangular shaped FILM tag permanently imbedded INSIDE of the globe which reads: 1889 RIVET D' ORIGINE TOUR EIFFEL PARIS the globe is heavy and has a 3 3/4 " diameter other than very minor surface marks ....it is in excellent condition A GREAT CONVERSATION PIECE .... an AUTHENTIC ANTIQUE PIECE of HISTORY from the Paris attraction that has had more visitors than any other tourist site on the planet Earth ! PLEASE NOTE : this DID NOT come with a base . ...that little wood stem we have it sitting on for the pictures is NOT original and not included (the globe is too large and heavy to sit on it safely or we would give it to you ) A GREAT HOLIDAY GIFT IDEA as well !!!
