Up for Sale today is an authentic Bell System Western Electric 1D2 single slot payphone. This is a real payphone that was used by the actual telephone company, not a newer electronic phone that the owner of a business would own themselves. Both the upper and lower locks have been removed. All you need to open this phone is a T-key, which is not included(I'm sorry, I don't have an y extras ). T keys are available from Payphone .com for $4. If you need assistance locating them , I will be more than happy to help. This phone was actually in service, so expect some minor blemishes. It looks very nice cosmetically though, compared to most . This phone looks to have been refurbished by the telephone company but then never installed. The chrome faceplate is absolutely brand new, not a scratch on it. The vault door is the same, it's brand new, I personally removed the protective vinyl covering off of it before I took the photos. The handset is also brand new, so no scuffs or scratches. There are a couple places where it looks like they touched up the paint on the upper housing, but that's it. This is one of the nicest phones I've sold so far. It's a very nice looking phone, you won't be disappointed! I tested this phone and it works(the ringer is connected and works also ), the handset amplifier works just as it should. You should be able to hook it up to any landline and use it like a regular telephone(It will not require money to place or answer calls) . The coin collecting functionality of the phone should be working , but will not funct ion on a regular telephone line . These needed a coin telephone line from the telephone company to actually collect money to make a call. If you would like me to test it for collect and re turn functionality on a coin line simulator, let me know, I would be happy to do so. The phone pictured is the actual phone you will receive. Many of these phones for sale claim to have been "converted for home use" and have had parts removed, this one has not, everything inside is completely intact. It is very easy to physically tie the coin relay(this is the part that collects or refunds your money) to one position or the other . T his would allow all coins put in to automatically fall through to either the coin return or cash box. I f you would like me to do this .just ask and let me know which direction you want the money to go. An original cash box is included with this phone. If you would like me to wire a modular cord into this phone so all you have to do is plug it in, I am more than willing to do that also, just ask. All that being said, It's a very nice phone and I hope someone can get some enjoyment out of it! Proceeds from this sale help fund the S&S Telephone Museum in Fulton, IL.
