Abraham Simon Lymon) was a popular composer and "society" bandeader in the 1920's and 30's. His sound was spiced with jazz licks, often with muted brass (e.g. "Milenberg Joys"). He got his start playing with Henry Halstead and Gus Arnheim and as a leader of the "Syncopated Five". In the mid 20's he struck out on his own with a band that included Teddy Powell and harpist Caspar Reardon, and they toured Europe and played to great success in London and Paris. They also appeared in early sound films and did soundtracks for the Merrie Melodies series. They were featured on national radio and recorded for Brunswick and Victor. By the late 1940's Lyman was retired from music. CONDITION: Good. Faint yellowish vertical staining through center, minor edgewear and yellowing. The back is blank and yellowed.
