AUTUMN ~ Abstract Stained Glass Window Panel with Fall Colors Capturing the organic textures and feel of an Autumn day, this abstract stained glass window panel showcases a stunning piece of hand-rolled Uroboros "fracture streamer" glass, in which very thin pieces of colored glass appear to float in the clear textured background. The rich colors of Fall - rust, burgundy, gold, yellow and orange - are abundant in this fracture-streamer glass. Dark brown striated glass and clear textured glass add depth and drama, while clear faceted bevels add sparkle to this vibrant Autumn scene. AUTUMN is all hand-crafted using the Tiffany copper foil technique. It has hand polished black patina, a darkened zinc frame, and rings and chain for hanging. AUTUMN is an original design and is signed and dated by the artist. My studio is in the San Jacinto Valley, which is a rural area of Southern California about 60 miles west of Palm Springs. Every glass piece that I create is a "labor of love". Designing a pattern, choosing the colors and textures of glass, and then cutting and fitting each piece together is such a calming, joyful experience - especially if a piece turns out the same way I envisioned it would. I'm quite slow in creating my glass works, but that's okay, as I love the process. The time honored, sage advice to stained glass artisans is "design it well and build it strong", and that is what I strive to do. A well-crafted stained glass piece should last a lifetime, and hopefully become a treasured family heirloom. All of my pieces are handcrafted original works. Occaisionally I will use a pre-made pattern for a portion of a piece, but the selection of glass and the composition is always original.
