This is an early American brass sliding fireplace trivet. This is a heavy duty piece, and it appears to have all of it's original hardware, as I will try to show in the photos. The design appears to be Colonial, and it also appears to have been hand forged, pre Industrial revolution. Not one area of symmetry. Only the soot has been removed, nothing to affect the beautiful Patina. This is one a wesome piece! When fully extended, it measures approximately 17".
