2Die4! … Quirky, whimsical, offbeat, and totally fantastic, this necklace is a guaranteed attention-grabber! Dating to the late 1940's—and obviously inspired by the "Dog Bone" design of Hubert Harmon—its sublime motif consists of twelve sterling silver dog bones alternating with fifteen sterling silver spheres. Both the bones and spheres graduate in size, with the largest meeting at the center of the necklace. And all the elements have been crafted in hand-rendered repoussage and strung on a fine, silver chain made up of soldered, oval links. Dynamic in dimension, expert in execution, and delightful in design, this is Mexican wearable art at its most fascinating. Hallmarks: STERLING , 925 , MEXICO . There is no Eagle assay stamp. Dimensions: Total wearable length is 22-1/4”. The largest dog bone measures 1-1/4” and the smallest is 3/4”. The largest sphere measures 3/4” and the smallest 3/8”. WEIGHT: All the elements are hollow repoussé and well-weighted at 62 grams. Condition: Excellent to superior vintage condition, with no dents or dings. The slight rippling of the surface of some of the dog bones is due to the artisan’s hand-rendered repoussage work, at the time of production, and is not a flaw. The necklace is fitted with a large hook-and-ring closure. ~ SUGGESTED READING BEFORE BID! Just the Facts… All descriptions of vintage read more
