TOLUCA IRON METEORITE Hello All, this next month or so you will find pieces from my personal collection listed ending daily. I am in the process of rasing funds to get a new place so you will be amazed at what I will be listing. Anyway will go until the needed funds are met, check out my other auctions. This is an endcut of the famous Iron Meteorite, Toluca, from Xiquipilco, Mexico State, Mexico. Toluca was first known to science in 1776 but was known by the locals long before this. Classified as a coarse Octahedrite (1.4mm) IAB Iron Meteorite. In the fall of 1929, Dr. Harvey H. Nininger made a trip to Mexico, at the time, a very dangerous place, and recovered many samples of this meteorite. One sample recovered by Nininger had been formed into a hand tool! The Toluca meteorite in this auction is shown in the photographs below. This is a pretty thin individual that is shaped like an axe head. Nice cabinet specimen. Weighs 425.5 grams. I got this from Steve Arnold, International Meteorite Broker, some years ago. Meteorite will come with a (signed) description cards. Meteorite is Unconditionally Guaranteed as to its Authenticity.
