This is a the most darling children's book I've come across. It is a large story book with beautiful illustrations by Ruth E. Newton, printed on heavy linen paper by Whitman Publishing, Racine, Wisconsin, in 1948. The lithographed illustrations show the light hand of her watercolors as well as her imagination. Each is suitable for framing--just look at the additional photos for examples. There are 12 pictures including the front and back, and most are signed. This book was loved by someone--how could it not have been?--and read many times. There are small pieces of tape holding the pages in (unobtrusively, at the top, the bottom, and occasionally in the center), and the back page has a strip along the edge. There are a couple pencil marks at the bottom of the back cover (I didn't erase them). There is slight discoloration at the upper portion of the cover, and a smudge or two on the back.
