This is the classic, deeply cut "Rotary" pattern by Baccarat. This was recently discontinued, probably because of the great expense of precisely grinding the deep grooves that make these tumblers feel so remarkable in the hand.This the LARGEST of the three tumbler ("old fashioned") sizes. This is the rarest size, and rarely appears on eBay (when they have in the past year, they have fetched over $100 per glass.) NOT FOR SMALL HANDS! While you can sip single malt whisky from this, you can also serve a monster margarita, a giant gin and tonic, a pint of beer, or an ample serving of spring water at your formal dining table. It holds a full 16 ounces. And the mass of this crystal gem is remarkable. It's 23 ounces empty, so hang on tight! Fortunately, those deeply and precisely cut grooves provide unsurpassed grip. Toasting with two of these glasses takes a little getting used to, like playing bumper cars with Rolls Royces!4-11/16" tall, 3-5/5" diameter at the rim. (Note that all fine hand-made crystal has slight dimensional variations.)This sparkling tumbler is one of seven, which are presently offered in my other auctions. All appear to be in unused condition, with Baccarat stickers, in original Baccarat boxes, with all the original brochure and care instructions. The box is in pristine condition. Except for the one minor aspect discussed below, the glass is in perfect, new condition:NO cracks.NO chips.NO fog.NO rub wear on base.NO "flea bites."NO scratches on exterior or interior sidewalls.The only imperfection in this glass (and in the six in my other auctions) is on the bottom inside of the glass, which has some fine wispy light scratches. They are not visible in normal lighting, or when the glass is full. But when hit by very bright, direct lighting, and viewed against a dark background, you can see them. Most of the photographs do not show them at all, but I worked hard to get a few that show the imperfections in the harshest possible light. I don't know what caused the imperfections, but suspect that someone (perhaps a retailer) displayed these with something inside them that rubbed the bottoms.Now, I'm an obsessive Baccarat owner, and appreciate the difference between "perfect" and "excellent." So, if you are looking for a museum piece to put on display under harsh lights, then this is probably not for you. But if you are looking for a gorgeous near-perfect piece to USE, (or give as a gift to someone who will use it). Then this is precisely what you are looking for.And let me be clear, except for the one imperfection I describe above, this glass (like the others) is PERFECT LIKE-NEW in every other aspect.All the glasses are the same in every respect, including the lightness of the scratches, so please do not request hand-picking. The photographs are the best possible to reveal both the beauty and imperfections, so I can not offer more.Because Baccarat has used different packaging, the boxes in my auctions differ slightly. Examine the pictures and select your auctions carefully if matching packaging is important (of course if other bidders are agreeable, I will do what I can to ensure that each multiple winner gets consistent packaging.). ALL original material is included. In several, t is the original Baccarat cloth ribbon still with original bow (slip it on the box to give as a gift). Some have the cardboard insert, others the foam blocks. All but the one with the telescoping sleeve include a full sheet of crinkly original Baccarat logo tissue paper.And you can rest assured that these will be packed with obsessive care, so that both the glass and the packaging arrive without the slightest bit of damage. read more
