Here is a boxed Bachmann Class 24/1 in BR Blue and numbered 24123. It is modelled to represent the engine with the later welded gangway front and roof water filler recesses plated over. A Class 25/1 had been used as the donor vehicle with the following modifications: Cabs have had the lower edges modified and the tail lamps lowered in the nose Cab skirts and tumble-homes fabricated Gangway doors plated and smoothed Flush fitted cab doors Horn blocks removed from headcodes and roof filled and etched grilles sunk above the cab doors Token recesses cut in cab sides and token fitted at number 2 end Cab windows and frames modified to both slide and drop window at opposing ends as per prototype Roof panel added around water filler recesses to represent later loco and boiler cowl removed and a grille has been set in the recess. Etched slotted boiler side plates and etched boiler filler hand hole plates are also fitted (original water filler removed) Tanks and battery boxes rebuilt: shortened height fuel tanks/ reduced length water tanks. Extra gauges fitted to new tanks and improved battery box detail. Far-north lamps fitted to each cab. 'Warm white' LEDS have been fitted which also illuminate in direction of travel and act as cab light too.
