This 1898 fourth-edition Baedeker’s “Egypt Handbook for Travellers,” 516 pages, features prints of tombs and temples as well as maps and city plans, and includes advice on bakshish and dervishes as well as expected information on ancient history and 19 th -century geography. It is particularly interesting as a snapshot of another time in light of recent events. A couple of pages are loose, but the book otherwise is in remarkable shape. It has its original placeholder ribbon along with "views and vignettes." This book has been in my collection, which I am selling, for about 25 years. Originally priced at $4.50 more than 110 years ago, it can be returned at buyer's expense within seven days for a refund of today's price if it is returned in the condition it was received.
