This bakelite handled butter knife knife is in very good condition with no cracks or chips in the plastic. There is some very light wear and scratching from use. The decorative "guard" on the shank where it fits into the plastic, which has a nice butterscotch color, is a little loose (it moves about 1/64 of an inch). This type of plastic is quite often called bakelite but in reality is another type known as catalin. This butter knife is marked on the blade Peerless Stainless Steel (see photos) and is 9 3/16" long and 3/4" wide.
