Its time to downsize my bell collection and this wonderful "treasure for you" comes from my smoke free home. Up for your consideration is this nice bronze bell from 1979 titled "JOAN OF ARC" made by Gerry Ballantyne . Made by the "lost wax method" of casting, "Joan of Arc " was an intended limited edition of 500 of which 395 were actually produced. This bell is signed and numbered... #263. The bell is approx. 6 inches tall and about 16 ounces in weight. Comes with the COA. Gerry Ballantyne based his bells on historical persons or literary characters. Based on the history, this bell has captured Joan of Arc clothed in armor, to lead French troops into battle for King Charles VII Her courage and enthusiasm inspired the troops so they marched on Orleans and freed the city in 1429. For this she earned the name of "Maid of Orleans". Joan led the armies and defeated the English four more times. Eventually, Joan was wounded, captured, sold to the English, tried and condemned as a witch, burned at the stake, later (1456) declared innocent, she was formally delared a Saint in 1919. .
