Up for auction is a beautiful vintage pair of Art Nouveau styled Banana Bob dragonfly earrings! Done in antiqued brass, they are 3 ¼" long by 2" wide at the widest point. They are for pierced ears. The dragonfly, a symbol of courage, was a popular motif in Art Nouveau jewelry and this beautiful pair of earrings really celebrates the style. The earrings feature a large brass repousse dragonfly with highly detailed wings and segmented body. The earrings have a remarkable degree of naturalism! Attached to the dragonfly is a brass extender with five marquise and two round Swarovski stones. These are an absolutely fabulous color of turquoise. Please check out the pictures! When compared to many vintage art nouveau pieces, these earrings really hold their own!! Annie Venditti a former professional figure skater started Banana Bob in 1986. Everything in the line was made in Providence, Rhode Island. They used many imported component parts, for example, the rhinestones and many of the fancy stones are Swarovski of Austria!! Other stones are imported from various parts of Europe and the Orient. The majority of styles are brass with an antiqued finish or sterling silver plated brass. With the closing of the Providence Rhode Island factory, Banana Bob has become even more highly coveted and sought after. Their value will only continue to increase.
