In our quest to auction some of our 55 year collection of barber bottles, we offer the following: Amethyst barber bottle from late 1800s with enamel hand painting of butterflies and daisies with stopper. Melon shaped body and lady's leg neck. Rolled lip. Rough pontil. 8" high This bottle has a glassblowers "quality control" item on the neck. There is a rough spot right at the base of the neck. If one weren't familar with barber bottles, you would think that something had been broken off of the bottle. I listed several photos to show you the imperfection. It's rough but not sharp. It's almost like the glassblower dropped a glob of glass on the bottle while making it. Don't know how else to describe it. I would simply turn this side toward the back of the shelf or cabinet and display the front near perfect side. Other than the glassblowers goof - there are no chips, cracks or repairs.
